Community litter clean-up along Highway 116

March 29th, 2017 by admin

The Anderson County Solid Waste Department, in conjunction with the Coal Creek Watershed Foundation, recently coordinated the annual “Coal Creek Spring Cleaning Day” to pick up trash along Highway 116 – The Fraterville Miners Memorial Highway between Rocky Top and Briceville.

While the rainy weather that day made it too dangerous for community volunteers to pick up litter along the roadside, each person who showed up to volunteer that day was given two large trash bags and promised that, when the weather cleared, they would pick up trash in the Coal Creek Watershed.

A big “Thank You” goes out to the Anderson County Solid Waste Department for helping with the event, and a litter crew from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department, who picked up litter along the roadway!!
