CRCTU, TVA volunteers pull trash from river

Local volunteers pulled an estimated 518 pounds of trash from the Clinch River during the Clinch River Cleanup event hosted July 10th by the local chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Anderson County’s Solid Waste Management Department assisted with the cleanup efforts.
Volunteers collected 40 bags of garbage, weighing an estimated 518 pounds, according to Geoff Trabalka, director of Solid Waste Management.
In addition to the bags of trash, volunteers pulled: four car fender pieces, four pieces of PVC pipe, a lawn chair, one child’s fishing rod, a backpack, a child’s wading pool, four pieces of loose scrap metal, three cardboard boxes, two bicycle tires, and three car tires (one, with rim).
